OUR SUSTAINABILITY MANIFESTO
At Sollisti we do not mass-produce, but rather focus on small collections with one of the kind designs. We make one to two variants per design. Unique and original our knitwear will reach beyond fashion trends and season, giving you, timeless and designer piece to your wardrobe.
Our designer knows exactly the amount of yarns we need to use per knitwear, and we keep our material order strictly to Dana's instructions. All our products are made-to-order for our customers, which allows us to keep minimum inventory and waste. In case of any material remaining, we use them for accessories and combine them with other yarns for the knitwear.
Furthermore, if the product is not up to SOLLISTI standards it is being stripped and hand knitted from the begging with the same material (wool or cotton) without wasting any of it. The end of product also does not require any waste production - the only waste are threads from the knitwear ends.
Reduce your impact and repair your clothes
At SOLLISTI, our core values revolve around long-lasting, sustainable knitwear. That is why we source our materials from the best sustainable suppliers, our designs are timeless and unique, and all knitwear is handmade.
For the first two years, all of our products are covered by warranty. After your warranty expires, you are still able to send us your knitwear for repair. This may include a fee, depending on the complexity of the repair.
We only use natural yarns, wools and fabrics, making sure that they are certified as such. In our materials, you can find a 'no mulesing' guarantee and OEKO-TEX Standard 100 Class 1 safety certificates. What does it mean?
Sheep shearing itself is not a painful procedure, but there are situations in which Australian sheep breeders used the so-called "Mulesing". This is the practice of cutting a piece of sheep skin without anaesthesia to prevent insect larvae from nesting in the sheep's skin folds. SOLLISTI only uses wool from suppliers that offer non-mulesing raw materials.
OEKO-TEX Standard 100 Class 1:
If an article carries the STANDARD 100 label, you can be certain that the material, has been tested for harmful substances and that the article therefore is harmless for human health. Our materials are certified with OEKO-TEX Standard 100 Class 1, meaning they do not contain any harmful substances and are safe even for toddler. This is our approach at SOLLISTI - Kind to Earth, Safe to Skin.
Our experiences designer and knitters know exactly how many yarns they will need per product and collection, which allows us to order without creating any extra material inventory or waste. The rest of materials is purchased upon consumer demand.
Furthermore, the material waste from each product is very little - these are just threads, and they accumulate for only 2-3g per jumper. We collect them to reuse them in accessories.
Closing the Loop, one Knitwear at the Time
We are making our knitwear to last. Though, if you decide that you do not want your knitwear anymore, you can send it back to us and we will repurpose it, giving the yarn a second life.
Upcycling means repurposing your knitwear so that the yarn can obtain a new life. Why upcycle?
Upcycling reduces the strain on valuable resources such as fuel, forests and water supplies – and helps safeguard wildlife habitats.
Upcycling reduces air and water pollution.
Upcycling results in less hazardous waste production during the manufacturing process.
It reduces the amount of waste that will need to be recycled or sent to landfills and incinerators.
It saves energy – as well as reducing greenhouse gas emissions which contribute to global climate fluctuations.
When choosing to upcycle and repurpose your clothes with SOLLISTI, you are decreasing exploitation of the environment and supporting knitters in Poland, who are producing our clothing.
